FIRST Security Guards picket their employer during a March 2011 picket

Unite Union is leading the fightback against bully bosses at security companies.

We want:

- Stable hours
- Better pay
- Stable sites for longer serving guards
- Government regulation to clean up the industry

As part of our campaign we will be picketing outside First Security, ADT-Armourguard and Rush Security offices this week. Please come and join us if you are not working and together we can improve working conditions for all security guards!

Wednesday 5 December:
FIRST SECURITY
Meet 9am @ Unite Union, 6 A Western Spring Rd, Kingsland.
or meet 9.30am outside First Security Cnr Arthur Brown Place and Carbine Rds, Mt Wellington

Thursday 6 December:
ADT-ARMOURGUARD
Meet 9am @ Unite Union
or meet 9.30am outside Armourguard, 666 Gt South Rd, Mt Wellington

Friday 7 December:
RUSH SECURITY
Meet 9am @ Unite Union
or meet 9.30am outside Rush Security, 369 Khyber Pass Rd Newmarket

Why are security workers treated so badly?
-Because security companies are at war with each other and workers are caught in the crossfire.

-These companies complete viciously to undercut each other for contracts- they compete to pay the lowest wages and provide the nastiest conditions of employment so they will win contracts.

-The workers pay the price each hour they work.

These companies prefer to bully their workers rather than demand the government clean up the industry.

Please join us.

Bullying in New Zealand employment is an everyday occurence in many company and businesses through out the country. I lost my job with Air New Zealand through management bullying a few years ago, which lead me to having a nervous breakdown.
It’s how employers and businesses are operating today out there, and the worker (employees) are merely pawns which are replaceable in a competitive market.
In this country today many employers and businesses will go to great lengths to save the company name, even if they know they are breaking laws..It’s a fact!
